Springfield is Jacksonville's oldest surviving historic neighborhood — a late Victorian and early 20th-century residential district on the northside where preservation efforts over the past two decades have brought a significant portion of the original housing stock back to life. Main Street is the commercial corridor, and the Springfield Preservation & Revitalization Council has been the organizational backbone of the neighborhood's recovery from decades of neglect. The neighborhood has developed a reputation as one of Jacksonville's most interesting urban pockets — walkable, historically rich, and increasingly active with independent businesses that have been drawn by the restored building stock.
